THE GRACIOUS FEW GREEN LIGHT EVENTS TO BEGIN THEIR FORMAL INTRODUCTION ON THE MUSICAL LANDSCAPE

A NEW SINGLE TITLED “HONEST MAN,” INDY 500 RELATED APPEARANCE AND SUMMERFEST DATE HIGHLIGHT THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS FOR THE BUSY ROCK ENTITIES

Los Angeles, CA – May 10, 2010 – The Gracious Few release their first single, “Honest Man,” this Tuesday, May 11.  The song is from their upcoming self-titled debut, due later this summer on the bands own imprint, Questionable Entertainment.  The Gracious Few was formed from the remnants of 90s’ rock juggernauts LIVE and Candlebox in mid 2009, both bands having achieved worldwide adoration and fame for their albums, live shows and musical craftsmanship.  The Gracious Few was produced by Jerry Harrison of the band Talking Heads, his production credits include LIVE, Violent Femmes, No Doubt and more.

Over the past decade and half, the two groups have enjoyed an assortment of musical career highs, robust concert attendance and wildly successful album sales.  Leaving some to wonder why the collective members of The Gracious Few (TGF) would tackle a new band project in such musically trying times.  “Simple,” says Chad Gracey (TGF co-founder and drummer) “it’s what we love to do, and what we do best.”

As the members for the seminal 90s’ band LIVE, Chad Taylor, Chad Gracey and Patrick Dahlheimer understand what it means to do your “best.” The trio made their mark in music to the tune of 20 million albums sold and touring incessantly to packed amphitheaters and concert sheds around the globe.  During the last two years, the three have broadened their breadth with other creative interests.  “It would have been easy for us to abandon music for film and television opportunities,” says Taylor. “Instead of living the typical rock n’ roll lifestyle; we started Questionable Entertainment to further our interests in the arts,” says Dahlheimer.  But that is only a portion of The Gracious Few story.

Just as LIVE was a phenomenal success in the early 90s, TGF frontman, Kevin Martin, also experienced multi-platinum success with his tour-de-force rock outfit Candlebox.   “We were the first rock band signed to Madonna’s label at the time,” says Martin, “Our success as a band helped to launch the label and now we find ourselves beginning again but this time we’ll be able to help young artists with our own label.  I brought Sean with me for a front seat ride on this roller coaster!” referring to Candlebox guitarist, Sean Hennesy, who rounds out The Gracious Few.  Taylor continues, ”It was time to take a break from LIVE.  We come from a blue-collar town where people work hard for a living.  They simply don’t quit their jobs, so it was very hard to walk away from our success.  I think we reflected this feeling in our first single, “Honest Man.”  Moreover, the single tells the tale of the everyman.  With the country experiencing some gut-wrenching lows at the moment, its tough for the honest man to make a living.”  ”Honest Man,” currently on the airwaves at rock radio, is the driving force behind the momentum of The Gracious Few.

TGF will make their public debut at Summerfest in Milwaukee on June 25.  And, keeping with the fast pace, also in the mix is a private event for IZOD Indy Car team stand out Andretti Autosport preceding this year’s Indianapolis 500.

Questionable Entertainment helped to develop a reality show based on Michael Andretti, his Playboy playmate wife, Jodi Anne Patterson & driver Danica Patrick.  TGF will provide the high-energy soundtrack.

…and for The Gracious Few the fast track to success is where they are headed, once again.

Upcoming The Gracious Few dates:

25 – June   Milwaukee, WI    Summerfest 2010
29 – June   Los Angeles, CA   Troubadour

Street Detail: Ralphie in Nashville
11:54 am | Thursday, April 1st, 2010

ralphieNAME: Ralphie

AGE: 38

OCCUPATION: Lover of the world!

HOME BASE: Los Angeles and Nashville

SHIRT: Mighty Big Man

SUNGLASSES: Prada

PANTS: Calvin Klein

SHOES: Timberland Blue Jean Couture

What’s your must-have item for spring? Sunglasses.

What’s going to be the big spring trend? Gold Bond Powder. You’re gonna wear skinny jeans, and then wear two shirts on top? There’s too much moisture, playboy! Better get some Gold Bond. That’s gonna be the biggest accessory for these hipsters.

What sneaker style are you rocking this season? Prada. I like the sneakers, they’re comfortable, they’re made in Italy, so I don’t have to worry about slave labor.

Vote on whether today’s subject is “Stylin” or “Wildin” below…

Who/what inspires your style? I’m kind of a trendsetter, because there’s not that many hip fat guys out there, you know?

What city/country has the best style? I’d have to say Italy, having gone there because I wear a lot of Italian clothes.

Who has wack style? Rush Limbaugh. I mean, as a fellow fat guy, c’mon. You could step it up a notch. But he’s like ancient. And mean. I think that Seth Rogen has horrible, horrible style. He’s in shape, he looks great, there’s no reason for him to wear horrible clothes, and yet he always does.

What trend do you want to see die? Tight-pants dudes with camel toe. Dudes cannot have camel toe, all right? If you get pants that allow camel toe, you’re gonna regret it.

Last clothing item you purchased? I got a pair of Prada sneakers a week ago.

Most money you ever spent on a single item of clothing? $3500 on an Italian patent leather orange jacket that I wore on my comedy special Austin-Tatious.

What do chicks dig about your style? My cologne. I always smell good. I wear Versace aftershave, and it goes well with Allure Homme Edition Blanche Chanel cologne. They like the combination. It’s a unique scent and you can’t get it over the counter, if you mix it up like that.

What’s the most common statement people make about your style? “For a fat guy you look great.” And it’s like, “Damn! You gotta qualify it?”

What’s the item currently in your closet you most regret buying? I got a pink Polo knit collared shirt that I’m like, “What the fuck am I gonna wear this with?” I just look like a big-ass strawberry walking down the street in that son of a bitch, but I did it because I was gonna go play golf at this place in Arizona with some radio buddies of mine, and you had to have a collared shirt. I stopped by a fat guy store and I’m like, “All right, if I’m gonna have a collared shirt, I’m gonna get the most annoying collared shirt that they have.” Turned out I did.

What is your favorite city? New York. It’s a fun town, man.

What is your dream job? I’m a radio geek, and my dream job would be Artie Lang’s job on Howard Stern.

Who is your dream date? I’m married, so I mean, my dream date… is not with a lawyer! I like that chick Megan Fox, but her hands are creepy. Have you seen her hands? Jesus, what the fuck! She’s got like man hands. Easy on the eyes, tough on the hands!

Last book read? I reread Catcher in the Rye last week. I hadn’t read it in 20 years, and picked it back up and was like, “Wow, man. Why didn’t I fucking read this all the time?” It’s beautiful.

What is your trend-proof style advice for our readers? White shirt and blue jeans and boots.

Daymond John’s “THE BRAND WITHIN: From Birth to the Boardroom” due April 15

March 22, 2010 by Monique Moss · 33 Comments

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, every day nearly 2, 500 people go into business for themselves.  Their firms account for 78% of U.S. businesses and $951 billion in receipts.  Entrepreneurship is abundant in America, especially in the current economic crisis, but how do these companies stand out from the rest in order to succeed?

THE BRAND WITHIN: HOW WE BRAND OURSELVES, FROM BIRTH TO THE BOARDROOM (DOP Publishing, ISBN 978-0-9825962-1-0) by Daymond John, founder/CEO of the revolutionary FUBU clothing line, brand strategist and star of the ABC hit reality show, SHARK TANK, is the second nonfiction book in the best-selling “Display of Power” series.  THE BRAND WITHIN examines the loyalty of relationships companies seek to establish by attaching celebrities to their brands and the instantaneous impulses consumers exhibit when purchasing a product.  Drawing on his cutting edge experience in the fashion business, as well as his hard-won insights developed as a sought-after marketing consultant to trendsetters and tastemakers, the author argues that branding relationships have now seeped into every aspect of our lives.

Daymond John is widely recognized as a branding and marketing authority in the ever-changing urban/pop culture marketplace.  He describes the evolution of a brand – from its generic inception to its watermark – and offers expert commentary on iconic personal “brands” ranging from Tiger Woods to Muhammad Ali and branding as it pertains to corporations such as Blackberry and UPS, among others.

Back flap endorsements include gems from Jim Cramer, Donny Deutsch, Mark Burnett, Kim Kardashian, Barbara Corcoran and Kevin O’Leary among others.  THE BRAND WITHIN, co-authored by Daniel Paisner who is credited with nine New York Times nonfiction bestsellers, is a dynamic roadmap to growing a successful brand.
